Gabriel started out his work with the DAGGER group revisiting some volcaniclastic sediments from northwestern China where the carbon and oxygen stable isotopes are puzzling. He moved on to working on the stable isotope signatures of the Shinejinst, Mongolia section and on stromatoporoid and coral growth banding in middle Devonian sediments from the Dundgovi Province of Mongolia.
