Katie's senior thesis involved analyzing low-grade metamorphic volcanic rocks from a new site in Mongolia to help determine the tectonic and paleoenvironment setting of a suite of Devonian-Carboniferous fossils in the tectonically complex Gobi Altai terrane. She now runs ROOT, a clothing company dedicated to conservation (read more about it here). Her work at Appalachian was included in this 2024 publication:
